Performance-Based Analysis and Curriculum Development for UBS

 Goal

Improve the development, promotion, and retention of UBS financial analysts by providing a performance-based competency model and curriculum that will develop the performance required for them to be successful in their jobs.

Challenges

  • Cognitive was brought in as a subcontractor, originally tasked with gathering analysis data by interviewing financial analysts at various UBS locations
  • UBS corporate was driving this project, but not providing any incentive for individual UBS analysts to participate and devote their time to the performance interviews
  • Just after the project kick off, the lead for the prime experienced a family emergency; Cognitive was asked to step in and lead the consolidation of the data, the development of the draft curriculum, and the draft final report to the client.

Solution

Cognitive's approach was to:

  • Work with the client to ensure the selection of financial analysts with the target performance
  • Conduct the personal analysis interviews with assigned financial analysts, using the Performance DNA methodology
  • Coordinate with the prime contractor to take the lead on the consolidation of the analysis into a performance-based competency model, the development of the curriculum, and the creation of the draft final report.

Cognitive Value Added

Cognitive Technologies provided expertise in performance-based analysis, competency model development, performance-based curriculum development, and client relationship management to:

  • Take the leadership of the project in the prime's absence to ensure completion of project deliverables in a timely manner
  • Provide direction and coaching to other team members during data consolidation and curriculum development activities
  • Design a performance-based competency model and curriculum to meet the UBS project goals.
