Cognitive Technologies Completes WOSB 8(M) Certification

February 17, 2011.  Cognitive Technologies -- a management consulting firm specializing in project management, collaborative processes, and organizational effectiveness for federal and state government and Fortune 1000 companies – announces that it is now certified as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) in the new Small Business Administration (SBA) WOSB 8(m) Federal Contract Program

“We are excited about the WOSB 8(m) Federal Contract Program because it will provide small woman-owned businesses with greater access to federal contracting opportunities and the tools necessary to compete for and win federal contracts, enabling us to continue to create jobs,” explains Dr. Karen McGraw, CEO of Cognitive Technologies. “We are delighted to be one of the first businesses in the U.S. to complete our certification.”

Cognitive Technologies has been certified by other third-party groups such as WBENC, the City of Austin, and the DOT as a woman-owned business for several years. The company has provided various levels of support in project management, collaborative processes and organizational effectiveness to numerous federal and state level agencies including the IRS, Department of Education, OCC/Treasury, Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Defense/NSA.

The SBA WOSB 8(m) Federal Contract Program was announced in late 2010 and directions for participation in the program were released on February 4, 2011. The program will be fully implemented over the next several months, with the first contracts expected during the fourth quarter of 2011. To qualify as a WOSB, a firm must be at least fifty-one percent owned and controlled by one or more women, and primarily managed by one or more women. The women must be U.S. citizens and the firm must be considered small according to SBA size standards.
