Cognitive Technologies Group Releases Technology Project Survey Results

November 15, 2004 – Cognitive Technologies is pleased to announce the publication of the results of the 2004 Technology Project Survey. Cognitive Technologies sponsored the survey of Fortune 1000 companies in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas to investigate project frequency, rate of use of selected technology project practices, respondents’ subjective perceptions of project success, and the factors that led to unsuccessful projects. Readers may receive an electronic copy of the survey results by submitting their request to: info@cognitive-technologies.com

“Previous surveys of this nature have been conducted with project personnel,” notes Bruce McGraw, vice president of Cognitive Technologies and co-author of the survey. He continues, “This survey was unique in that it targeted the C-level executives who are most likely to fund projects and to be held responsible for their ultimate success or failure.”

The Technology Project Survey was undertaken in July 2004, and submitted to 400 CEOs and CIOs in Fortune 1000 companies. The survey measured subjective perceptions and opinions of executives regarding project management and project success. The one-page survey consisted of nine questions; eight of these reflected a Likert scale format and the ninth was a multiple selection question. Respondents could complete and mail the survey (a SASE was included) or respond online. To ensure consistent understanding, a technology project was defined for respondents as “a temporary endeavor undertaken by a team to create a unique technical product/service.”
